Although a non native, this annual has become a very important plant for pollinators and wildlife.  It's vivid crimson flower heads sit atop tall dense foliage and are a rich source of nectar for all types of pollinators.

 

POLLINATORS:  A great early abundant source of nectar and pollen for all types of bees and butterflies.

 

WILDLIFE:  Its dense foliage provides shelter and habitat for myriad bugs, cover for small mammals and in some places may be used by ground nesting birds.
