Cornflower cyanus, also commonly known as bachelor's button, this native species of wildflower originates from roadsides, meadows and wastelands. In the past it was often grown as a weed in cornfields and was almost wiped out by intensive agrcultural practices. Today their conservation status is as a priority species.
Their lovely delicate flowers with vibrant blue blooms are an essential addition to any wildlife garden - in beds, borders or a small wild area.
They are an excellent source of pollen and nectar as their blossoms secrete nectar all day long. They also make excellent cut flowers.
POLLINATORS: Honey bees, bumble bees, hoverflies, butterflies & moths
WILDLIFE: They are beneficial to many insects, and once their flowers are over their seeds provide food for birds and small mammals.
