Also known as ‘Pot Marigold’ this classic Calendula is very easy to grow and produces abundant large, vivid orange daisy-like blooms over a long season. Very versatile, it is well suited to beds, borders, containers as well as for use as a cut flower.
A great Companion plant for the vegetable patch too - Calendula can help to prevent beetles from attacking asparagus and repel tomato hornworms.
The flowers are edible - suitable to add to salads -with a flavour that ranges from spicy to bitter and tangy to peppery.
POLLINATORS: Highly attractive to many pollinating insects, it produces nectar and pollen for both Honeybees and Bumblebees - you may even be lucky enough to find bumblebees sleeping in its flowers early in the morning.
WILDLIFE: Known to attract to many beneficial insects including hoverflies which eat and so help control aphids.
