An early spring flower this cheerful little wildflower was a common plant of traditional hay meadows, ancient woodlands and hedgerows. 

Its pretty, nodding, bright yellow flowers sit on top of upright green stems which grow from a rosette of crinkly green leaves  growing close to the ground.  A lovely addition to the front of borders it can also be grown in containers.

 

POLLINATORS: Bees & hoverflies 

 

WILDLIFE:  Their greenery provide welcome habitat for many varities of small insects.
